Let me tell you our story.

### About our family
My name is **Evelyn Botter** I'm the founder of Magical Graphic, and I live here in New Albany with my husband Chris and our two daughters, Jackie and Cecilia.
I was born and raised in **São Paulo, Brazil.** I came to the United States chasing a dream — to become an artist. I put myself through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, earned my BFA in Fine Arts with a specialization in 3D Animation, and was lucky enough to work as an animator for **Disney Studios.** It was everything I had dreamed of since I was a little girl in Brazil watching animated films and wondering if I could ever be part of making them.
And then I became a mother. And like so many of us do, I quietly put my career on pause. I stayed home. I poured my creativity into my daughters. I loved every minute of it — and I also felt the artist in me waiting.

### Why we moved to Ohio
Our oldest daughter, **Jackie**, is dyslexic and has ADHD. So am I. So does her sister Cecilia.
If you know, you know. Bright, curious, creative kids who love to learn — and a school system that just… isn't built for the way they think. We tried everything in the Bay Area. Tutors. Specialists. Schools that said they understood and then didn't. We watched our sparkling little girl start to believe she wasn't smart. *That* is the moment every parent of a child with learning differences knows — and dreads.
So we did something crazy: we started looking at the whole country. Anywhere in the United States. Wherever the right school was, that's where we would move.
That's how we found **Marburn.**
We had never been to Ohio. We didn't know a soul in New Albany. We flew out, visited the school, and in one afternoon we knew. We uprooted our lives in California and moved across the country for a school.
**Jackie started at Marburn in fourth grade. She is now finishing eighth.**
She is loved here. She *feels* loved here. She is understood, celebrated, challenged, and held. She is not a struggling student anymore — she is a Marburn student, and that word means something. Marburn didn't just teach our daughter to read differently. Marburn taught her that her brain is not broken. It's original.

### About Marburn Academy
For those who don't know it yet — Marburn is something special.
Founded in **1981** by a group of parents, educators, and civic leaders who saw what was missing — Marburn is a non-profit, independent day school in New Albany, Ohio, devoted to bright students with learning differences like dyslexia, ADHD, and executive function challenges.
Today Marburn serves over 300 students from 34 Central Ohio communities. It is one of only **18 schools in the entire country** accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy for its language instruction program — the gold standard for dyslexic learners.
The Marburn philosophy is simple and radical: *we are all born originals.* A child's learning difference isn't a defect to be corrected — it's a part of what makes them original. Marburn's job is to help them awaken their potential, succeed in school and life, and go on to drive positive change in their communities.
**100% of Marburn graduating seniors are accepted to college.**
That is not a statistic. That is a quiet miracle, repeated every year, for kids whose previous schools had given up on them.

The truth is: Magical Graphic exists because Marburn does.
Watching Jackie bloom at Marburn reminded me that originality is a gift, not a diagnosis. It also reminded me that I had my own creative self waiting. So — with my daughters older and more independent, with my husband cheering me on, and with my art itching at my fingertips again — I started Magical Graphic.
Every design is drawn by hand. Every tumbler is personalized. Every basket is assembled in our Ohio home with wood wool, a soft botanical sprig, a hand-signed card, and wrapped in a kraft keepsake box.
